Introduction to Co and Marja and New Creation

Ethiopia… one of the poorest countries in the world.

In this country Co and Marja Tollenaar work, in the town of Debre Zeit (Bishoftu) to be precise, 55 km south of the capital, Addis Abeba. From 2001 - 2006 they worked for mission organisations. During these years they became familiar with the country and its people.

New Creation

In 2007 they founded the Non Government Organisation ‘New Creation’, as they had seen the distress of the poorest of poor. These are the widows and their children who have little or no income at all, and the street children without any care, often due to HIV/AIDS. In these circumstances, Co and Marja and their staff provide the care that is needed, out of the love of God for them.

Orphans and widows

At this moment Co and Marja live with seven children. In total there are 41 children and 28 widows in the programme. We would like to involve you, who reads this, in their work and plans because they can’t do it by themselves and they can do more if many people help.

Servitude...

We would like to serve the people in Ethiopia and help them build up a good life in their own country, independent of the organisation.

… and independence:

The children go to Ethiopian schools, the older children receive vocational training, widows are helped with a mutual fund to function in society.
